I got this machine in the post today UPS delivered, no obvious damage on the box, but when I turned it on, it was quite loud and odd sounding. Since some of the reviewers said that it was loud I wasn't too worried, but when 60 min had passed and my Frozen Strawberry yogurt still was 50deg F, I was concerned. Then I was more concerned when it had an ozone kind of smell coming from the vent. Got my tools, and pried out the little round caps in the bottom of the sides, took the top off, and saw that the fan bracket was causing the fan to ground out against the side of the machine. It looks like this is *very* easy to happen during shipping. I removed the fan bracket with two small philips screws, bent it back a bit, put a washer under it, and screwed it back in. 60 min later I have super Frozen Yogurt.

I don't know where the idea that you have to keep it upright for 24hours comes from. Its just a little fridge compressor expansion thingy, and coil, and a fan. I used it after I fixed the fan right off and it was fine.

Product inside the case is simple, and looks pretty sturdy. Fan was a typical AC unit (hard to break) and AC unit looked rugged.

I like that the blades will reverse direction if impeded (by nut or something in your mix.) It seems that the unit that drives the blades operates with a mechanical type safety. I like this design.

I took one start off for the fan being easy to damage in shipping, and one star off for the seemingly fragile blade/cover setup which seems tricky.

Here's my Strawberry frozen delight.

2 cups fresh roadside strawberries
2 &1/2 cups plain yogurt
1/4 cup cream
1 tblsp vannilla
6 tblsp lime juice
1 &1/4 cup milk

I have had this machine for about a year now. I make ice cream at least twice a week. It is fast and not to loud. I make my own diet ice creams and ices. The only thing I do is spray the bowl with a little Pam. I don't use alot of cream in my ices and this helps with the mixtures not freezing from the bottom causing the paddle to lift up which will stop the chruning. Easy to clean.

Customer Buzz
Makes perfect batches of ice cream, consistently each time. I used to have a cheaper pre-freeze bowl model, and ice cream would always come out inconsistently, a lot of times too watery, and if you made a mistake, you had to re-freeze the bowl and start over. Good for bbq's b/c you can make batch after batch, just make sure you make all the ice-cream mixes beforehand. A bit pricey, yes, but you get what you pay for, excellent machine, would definitely recommend.

I bought this as a gift for a friend, after returning 2 defective units of another brand. They love this one.

I bought this as a gift for a someone who considers himself an expert on ice cream making. Needless to say this was a great hit. The ice cream was so delicious and it took no time at all to whip up a batch. I thought I would have to pay a lot more to get the quality that we did.

Customer Buzz
Solid feel and good finish on this machine. Performs well, and is able to make better sorbets and ice-creams than old-style maker with ice and rock salt. Batch size is reasonable, and can make several batches back-to back just fine. Only real downside is the noise - agin, quiter than our ice-and-rck salt machine, but still quite noisy. Overall, very happy with this machine to date, but might just want to put in closet/garage/bathroom while its running.

Customer Buzz
I bought this machine earlier this year because I was tired of using freezer space to keep canisters for the cheaper model frozen (and half the time they didn't freeze). What a mistake. This is a giant waste of money and a reminder that Cuinsinart isn't what it once was (in less than six months I had to replace parts on a new 14-cup food processor). Time and again the ice cream on the outside freezes, meaning the blade stops turning and most of the "ice cream" is soup. It doesn't matter what the recipe is, btw. I e-mailed Cuisinart two months ago (another company that doesn't want to hear from consumers -- check out the web site) and naturally haven't heard back. Sadly, I didn't keep the box so I could just return the whole thing. I haven't yet talked myself into the $700 Italian ice cream maker -- I'm not a professional chef -- but urge anyone thinking about this product to think again.

If your time is short, and whose isn't, then this is the machine for your homemade ice cream. Follow the directions, add ingredients, eat ice cream in one hour. Easy clean up. Up side, we now begin to experiment. Down side, the machine is heavy for the wife to put away. I built a special little table to store off the pantry floor.

We purchased this ice cream maker, along with two ice cream cookbooks (see links, below), as a gift to our lactose intolerent, and otherwise allergic, grandchildren. Their Mom reports that the ice cream produced is wonderful, easily made, and satisfying to all. The Best Ice Cream Maker Cookbook Ever; Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book They have called us twice already to rave about the ice cream and thank us for this blessing.

I'm making a batch of ice cream right now and I can't help but think what a miserable product this is. My wife purchased the Cuisinart Supreme Commercial Quality Ice Cream Maker for me as a gift for Christmas 2007 and I use it two to three times a month. Either Cuisinart's definition of commercial quality is different than mine or their standards have slipped considerably.

I started making ice cream in January and after 4 batches the motor arm burned out. I called Cuisinart's Customer Service and at first they suggested I disassemble the motor arm. I asked if this would void my warranty and was put on hold. When the agent came back she told me they would ship a replacement which arrived about 10 days later.

In June, the timer dial stopped working. It still turns the machine on but it doesn't keep time and turning it manually to Off doesn't stop the churn. I have to unplug the ice cream maker and remove the motor arm.

I assume that when I call Cuisinart again they'll either repair or replace the machine but it means paying $10 for shipping and handling and I'll be without my ice cream maker until they return it.

The Cuisinart Supreme Commercial Quality Ice Cream Maker gets 1 star from me because it does make good ice cream but the quality of this product is terrible. I expected more from Cuisinart.

dyson dc15 animal cyclone upright vacuum cleaner

Buy dyson DC15 Vacuum for sale & Best Price!!!

Product Description

We have an Argentine Dogo, which can only be described as a huge white dog that sheds like no other animal I have ever encountered. We talked about getting this vacuum for over a year and last week bought one. We have to admit, on carpet this machine is just amazing, period! Picks up dirt and pet hair that will scare you, seriously. However our entire first floor is hard wood and tile. It was very difficult to maneuver this machine on those surfaces, and it is kind of heavy. It scratched our wood floor and it was next to impossible to get under any furniture without using the extended handle and hose, which is actually quite short. The cord is also very short and we had to change outlets several times to get the whole down stairs done. Our house is not that big. So overall our opinion is that this vacuum is great for carpet but cumbersome and not worth the money for hard floors like wood or tile.

After 1.5 years, the design has not changed.
The hose completely came apart. It weighs a TON and has the DUMBEST, lousiest design ever.
1. cannot vacuum under furniture because it is so large,
2. the hardwood floor attachment pushes stuff around because the bristles block the suction
3. the hose and entire design are incredibly akward --to get suction the hose will bend and block air, thus you must often hold + unbend the hose while simultaneously vacuuming.
4. you will injure your back with the weight of this beast.
5. save your money, it breaks just like the cheaper brands, and the hose replacement is well over $100
6. So after 1.5 years of a broken back, you can have my piece of dirt for free and I'm going to buy a new cannister every year as they break all the time anyhow.

Well, I purchased this vacuum 2 years ago as a Christmas gift for my mother. At the time it was $147.00 due to an Amazon special. I have never ever spent so much on a vacuum but after alot of research I decided it was probably worth it after all the other vacuums that we had gone through. We have numerous pets, a dog, multiple cats, and a bird. At the time we were going through vacuum cleaners like candy, we purchased a hoover (lasted less than a year) we purchased a bissell (lasted a little over a year) we then purchased a dirt devil (still have this vacuum but it is so incredibly loud it actually hurts the ears so we rarely use it).

Now for the dyson animal. This vacuum has lasted for 2 years, the longest we have had in a looong time. All the attachments work wonderfully, it has not clogged or lost suction despite the numerous cat toys it has sucked up. Our bedroom carpets look and feel brand new after we run the vacuum over them. We have not had any problems with carpets being ruined by this vacuum, and the majority of our house has wood floors and it cleans them right down to the creases. The hose is amazing, it extends so we can reach dust webs on the ceilings or under vents. All the seperate attachments have their places on the vacuum and are attached securely, and are at hand for easy use. I am incredibly pleased with this vacuum, and would purchase another dyson in the future.

Sadly I have to say that human hair can be just as much a pain as the beloved furry friend's hair, but this machine is AMAZING!! I have had long hair all of my life and have constantly dealt with nearly ruining vacuums because of my hair. Very user friendly for taking the beater bar area apart to clean around the bar as well as the wheels themselves. Easy empty and LOVE to use. You'd think that I never vacuum my house with as much as it collects with one pass through. Definitely worth saving for!

My only issue is that I haven't quite figured out how to use the extension for the attachments. I get the hose out okay, but getting it back together and all back in place takes me a bit to figure it out, but I eventually get it and then I'm happy again. Not bad enough to dislike it though.

From '70, I had a Kirby, then in '97, a Rainbow. Both "commission" appliances. Pricey, is a mild statement. Now I'm tired of dragging the canister around and emptying the water-bath after every use. The DC15 is certainly a very different "animal". As an upright, there is a LOT going on with it's functions. It takes a little getting used to if you've been using a canister type for years, but not difficult. It's nice having quick-change cleaning capabilities right at hand. Floors to ceiling fans, carpets to bookcases and cabinets..no going back to a closet to get another tool. Changing "weapons" is a snap, and this thing has all the power anyone would need or want. My little adopted sister was very impressed with how easy it was to empty. Even tho she had sore muscles from about an hours use with it. (She's never used an upright). Now she's quite interested in one herself as her old Drag-Behind is on it's last skids. The Dyson is also reasonably quiet and at least as good in filtering dust as my Rainbow was. I did purchase 3 other acc.brushes and the low-reach floor head for getting under other furniture where the "robot" won't go. So far, I'm very pleased.

We have owned this for 2 years now. It was nearly $800 when we got it. At the time we bought it we had an old I mean OLD Kirby upright. I vacuumed daily with the Kirby but it burned out a belt and needed some minor work. So we ordered one of these. All I can say is WOW! When we got it, it had only been 2 days since the death of the Kirby. I got 3 canisters full of junk off the carpet in the first 10 minutes. By the time I did the whole house I had emptied the canister 5 times! Hair, dust, gunk whatever it was in there.

The ball makes it as easy as Dyson shows on his commercials. All you need to do is flick your wrist in a direction and the thing goes that way, it is honestly amazing.

Every piece of this vacuum is so well engineered. If it dies for any reason you can call a number and it will talk to the person on the phone to tell them what is broke (well via tones, not voice :)). They then send out a part for it to be fixed.
You get what you pay for, go ahead and buy a cheaper knock off... IMHO this is the best vac I have ever seen let alone owned.

Customer Buzz
This is a good vacuum but difficult to use. The only real animal hair thing about it is the very large attachment mainly to be used on furniture. It is very hard to use the stick because you have to totally unwrap the wire, pull out the stick attach it to the hose and then use it. Also it has absolutely no edge power. It leaves an obvious 1 inch mark where it just doesn't "suck". So you do have to end up going around the room with the stick. For the money just buy a good bagless vacuum and you will get the same for your money. I bought a Hoover and it is great for the downstairs because also this vacuum is very heavy and hard to bring up and down stairs!!

Customer Buzz
Have had this vacuum for several years now. Worked great on carpeted floors but we recently remodeled our house with all African Walnut. Unfortunately the Dyson has resulted in significant scratches on the floors due to the very small hard plastic wheels under the head. Now looking for something more hardwood friendly.

I'm a proud owner of three Siberian Huskies. That being said I have a massive amount of hair... everywhere. I have a Furminator( which I love) I use to brush them three times a week and still hair, hair, hair. The carpet was awful and so was our furniture. We went through two other vacuums that didn't seem to be getting the job done.

Last Christmas, with relatives coming to visit out of state, I decided enough was enough. I researched online and read reviews for several other vacuums. I decided on the Dyson Animal(The ball version). The results ~ Amazing. The hair and dirt it picked up not only shocked me but, made me feel kind of sick all of that was in and on my carpet. I have a fairly small living room and I had to dump the canistor twice. It lived up to all the hype I read in the reviews.

There are a few people who say that the suction isnt working for them as well as they had hoped. In some cases not at all. This is surprising to me. When I vacuum I can actually see the hair being sucked to the machine before it even reaches it. I let all my friends use it, because they love it and are saving up to buy one of their own.

Bottom Line: Best $500 I spent so far. Met all my expectations.

I bought the Dyson DC24 from Target because I felt I couldn't afford the DC15 and the lightweight, compact design of the DC24 appealed to me. Let me say, I have been incredibly pleased with the power and performance of the DC24.

That said, when I saw Amazon had such a great price for a new, not reconditioned DC15 -- the one we originally wanted -- I had to snap it up. Wow, and uh-oh were my first reactions (that has to do with why I'm in trouble, which I'll get to later.).

It is definitely worth purchasing for even more robust cleaning power (we have 8 cats!) and its generous array of attachments. It is more unwieldy, though not nearly as heavy as the ridiculous, poor-performing Kirby. With the Kirby, I had to get on hands and knees with a Gonzo sponge to lift hair, then vacuum - no more of that! The good news is either Dyson lifts pet hair without hesitation. The difference with the Animal is that while it is heavier to manage, it cleans even more definitively.

A motivating factor is that I am an asthma sufferer, which I realize is exacerbated by the cats. The asthma's under control with meds, but I have definitely noticed dramatic improvement in my breathing and the utter banishment of household allergies due to such thorough cleaning.

The "Ball" pivoting mechanism isn't hype, either. It reduces all that repositioning and maneuvering.

So then, why am I in trouble? I am an idiot (or not!) because I am keeping both. The DC24 (small one) is perfect for whipping through the house on weeknights when I don't want to have a major production. It's so easy and light, able to get in tight and low places and I am never taxed or tired after using it. The Animal stays because there is simply no better cleaning to be had. I have had many vacuums in my life and if I could recoup my money from those manufacturers for the lousy performance of their Hoovers, Eurekas and Kirbys -- plus receive reimbursement for the extra hours I spent "double-cleaning" -- I could easily pay for the entire line of Dyson products with bags of money left over!
